Return to What We Do
Monies are raised in a variety of ways including:
We collect unwanted gifts (large and small) and donations from local shops/businesses to use as prizes for our tombola stalls and raffles throughout the year. This in turn reduces our costs and means we have more funds available to put back into the community.
Our friendly Lion usually pays a visit to our street collections to say “ hello” to everyone and depending upon the time of year he may even give out treats.
The Cottage Bakery in Lincoln have worked with the Lions for a number of years now and make a selection of cakes specifically for the Lions organisation to purchase and re-sell for a profit. Cakes have a minimum shelf life of 6 months. A brochure with ordering details is available here
Minimum donation £1.00, this pin is usually for sale at all our fund-raising events be it a Street Collection, Gala Stall, Car boot Sale or anything where we can put them on display.
For a number of years Pontefract Lioness Club have held Santa;s Grottos throughout December. Originally in the town centre and more recently at Junction 32 Retail Outlet this has proved to be one of our most successful events throughout the year and we have already had it confirmed that Santa will be back later this year.
Other fund-raising includes: Gala Stalls - Car boot Sales - Bric-a-brac Stalls
Till Receipt Draw . . . and we are always looking for new ideas.
